Our Focus – conquer abstract concepts, train mastery and hone accuracy.
The Sec 3 A Math Challenge
Sec 3 is the year when students first encounter Additional Mathematics, and with it comes a steep learning curve. The sudden jump from lower secondary math can feel overwhelming — algebra grows more abstract, trigonometry becomes more complex, and new topics such as logarithms and functions demand both precision and flexibility. On top of this, students are balancing A-Math with E-Math and other heavy subjects, which can make it hard to build the deep understanding needed to do well. Many begin to see A-Math as “too difficult,” which only feeds the fear and hesitation to attempt challenging questions.
How Mathletes Helps
At Mathletes, we believe that with the right training, A Math does not have to be intimidating. Our focus is on helping Sec 3s build a strong foundation in the core topics — algebra, surds, indices, and quadratics — because these are the tools that unlock success across the entire syllabus. From there, we gradually introduce problem-solving strategies, teaching students how to break down unfamiliar questions and approach them with confidence. Along the way, we emphasise disciplined working, clear presentation of steps, and accuracy, so that students don’t lose marks unnecessarily.
Our small group classes, capped at just 6, ensure that no student slips through the cracks. Each learner gets personal attention, with misconceptions spotted and addressed early. Through curated practice, close guidance, and encouragement, Mathletes equips Sec 3s not only to handle A-Math, but to thrive in it with confidence and resilience.
Our Sec 3 A Math (G3) Syllabus
At Mathletes, our Secondary Three programme closely follows the MOE syllabus, covering all chapters in the official Sec 3 additional mathematics textbooks. While ensuring complete coverage of the curriculum, we also allocate ample time for test and exam preparation using our reflective learning Mathletes Model.
